Description
The White Sided Axanthic 66% Het Hypo (Ghost) Brooks Kingsnake Baby is a high-contrast, visually striking morph for the intermediate to advanced keeper looking to work with a proven genetic project. This snake combines the clean, reduced-pattern look of the White Sided trait with the potential for future Ghost (Hypo) offspring. We’ve carried this specific genetic combination since Q1 2025, and its consistent popularity requires us to keep over 20 in stock to meet demand and avoid backorders.
Stand-Out Features
- High-Contrast Pattern: The White Sided gene dramatically reduces the lateral pattern, creating bold, clean bands of black and white for a sharp, modern appearance.
- Proven Genetics: This animal is a visual Axanthic (lacking yellow/red pigments) and carries a 66% chance of being heterozygous for the Hypomelanism (Ghost) gene, a valuable combination for breeding projects.
- Established Feeder: Brooks Kingsnakes are known for robust appetites and ease of care, making this a solid choice for those familiar with colubrid husbandry.
- Manageable Adult Size: This species typically reaches a manageable 3 to 4 feet in length, suitable for a standard 40-gallon enclosure as an adult.
- Investment Potential: The specific genetics offer a clear path for producing visually Axanthic animals that are also Hypo, increasing the value of future offspring.

Your Questions Answered
What does “66% Het Hypo (Ghost)” mean for my breeding plans?
This animal has a 66% probability of carrying one copy (heterozygous) of the Hypomelanism gene. The only way to confirm it is “Het” is to breed it to another visual Hypo or proven Het. If it proves out, you can produce Ghost (visual Hypo Axanthic) offspring. If it doesn’t carry the gene, you’ll still produce Axanthic offspring.
How does the White Sided trait differ from a standard Axanthic?
The White Sided gene works on pattern, not color. It restricts the dark pigmentation to the dorsal (top) area, creating wider, cleaner white lateral bands. A standard Axanthic would have the typical banded pattern, just in black, white, and gray. This morph gives you both the Axanthic color and the modified pattern.
Is this a good snake for a first-time keeper?
Brooks Kingsnakes are generally hardy and good feeders, but this is a higher-value animal with specific genetics. We recommend it for keepers who have experience with the basic care of a colubrid snake and understand the commitment of a long-term breeding project, not for absolute beginners.
