Description

The Bumble Bee Ball Python Baby is a high-contrast designer morph for the intermediate to advanced keeper. This animal combines the bright yellow coloration of the Pastel gene with the clean black pattern reduction of the Spider gene. We’ve kept this specific line on our shelves since early 2024 due to consistent customer satisfaction and low return rates. It’s a proven, predictable morph that delivers on its visual promise.

Stand-Out Features

  • High-Contrast Pattern: The signature “bumble bee” look features vibrant yellow blushing against reduced, clean black markings.
  • Predictable Genetics: As a single-gene combination of Pastel and Spider, its appearance and genetic potential are well-established.
  • Proven Feeding Response: This line has shown a strong and consistent feeding instinct on frozen/thawed rodents.
  • Manageable Size: Ball pythons remain a manageable, medium-sized constrictor, suitable for a standard 40-gallon enclosure as an adult.
  • Breeding Potential: A cornerstone morph for projects aiming at combos like Killer Bees, Spinner Blasts, and other multi-gene animals.

Your Questions Answered

Does this morph have the Spider gene’s “wobble”?

Yes. The Spider gene is known to cause a neurological condition called “wobble,” which can range from imperceptible to a noticeable head tremor or corkscrewing. This is a characteristic of the gene, not a health defect. Our Bumble Bees are selected for minimal expression, but the potential is present.

What setup do you recommend for a baby?

Start with a secure 10-20 gallon enclosure with a thermal gradient: 88-92°F warm side, 78-80°F cool side. Provide a minimum of two snug hides (one on each end), a water bowl, and proper humidity (50-60%). Aspen or coconut husk substrate works well. Overly large enclosures can stress neonates.

Can I breed this snake in the future?

Absolutely. The Bumble Bee is a heterozygous (single gene) animal for both Pastel and Spider. When bred to a normal ball python, you can expect Pastels, Spiders, Normals, and more Bumble Bees in the clutch. It’s a foundational animal for numerous advanced combinations.
