Description
The Brick Red Hypo Translucent Bearded Dragon is a captive-bred morph for the intermediate to advanced keeper seeking intense, saturated color with a clean genetic profile. Since we added it to our lineup in early 2024, it has consistently been one of our top-selling dragons. This specimen displays the deep, warm brick-red pigmentation the line is known for, combined with the Hypo and Translucent traits for reduced scale patterning and dark eyes.
Stand-Out Features
- Vivid Brick Red Coloration: Exhibits a rich, earthy red base color that is highly saturated and consistent across the body.
- Hypo (Hypomelanistic) Trait: Reduces black pigment, resulting in cleaner, brighter colors and clearer nails.
- Translucent Trait: Produces semi-transparent spikes and scales, often with dark, solid-colored eyes, giving a unique visual depth.
- Excellent Physical Structure: Our handling shows a robust build with tight tolerances in limb joints and scale alignment, indicating quality breeding.
- Proven Genetics: Bred from established Hypo Translucent lines, offering predictable and desirable traits for future breeding projects.

Your Questions Answered
How does the Hypo gene affect this dragon’s appearance?
The Hypomelanistic (Hypo) gene reduces the amount of black and brown melanin pigment. This results in brighter, cleaner reds and oranges, eliminates black markings on the nails (giving clear nails), and generally creates a higher-contrast, more vibrant animal compared to a normal wild-type.
Will the brick red color fade or change as it ages?
Proper care and husbandry will maintain the color intensity. Bearded dragons often experience some color shifting as they mature, but the underlying brick-red pigmentation from this genetic line is stable. Expect the red to remain a dominant feature into adulthood, especially with correct UVB lighting and temperature gradients.
Is this morph suitable for a first-time bearded dragon owner?
While its care requirements are identical to a standard bearded dragon, this is a higher-value morph. We recommend it for keepers who already understand the fundamentals of bearded dragon husbandry—including proper heating, UVB lighting, and diet—before investing in a specialty genetic animal.
