Your Questions Answered
What does ‘Young Adult’ mean for a crested gecko?
This gecko is past the rapid growth phase of a juvenile but not yet at full adult size. It is sexually mature, feeding reliably, and its Dalmatian spotting pattern is fully expressed and stable. This age offers a great balance of established hardiness and long-term potential.
How is the Dalmatian trait inherited?
The Dalmatian spotting is a polygenic trait, meaning it’s influenced by multiple genes. Breeding a Dalmatian to a non-Dalmatian will not produce 100% spotted offspring, but it increases the likelihood and intensity of spots in the resulting progeny, especially when paired with other Dalmatian-line geckos.
What setup do you recommend for this gecko?
We house ours in a 12″x12″x18″ bioactive terrarium. A vertical enclosure of this size or larger is essential. Provide plenty of climbing branches, live or artificial foliage for cover, and maintain a temperature gradient of 72-78°F with moderate humidity.
