Your Questions Answered
How blue will this dragon stay as it ages?
The blue barring is a genetic trait. While some fading can occur during the “browning out” phase as subadults, the blue typically re-emerges vividly upon full maturity, especially in well-bred lines like this one. Proper UVB lighting and diet support color expression.
What setup do you recommend for a juvenile?
A 20-gallon long or 40-gallon breeder tank is ideal to start. Provide a basking spot of 100-110°F, a UVB tube light (ReptiSun 10.0 or Arcadia 12%), and a cool side around 80°F. Use a non-particle substrate like slate tile or reptile carpet for juveniles.
Is the Hypo gene visually apparent now?
Yes. The Hypo (Hypomelanistic) gene reduces dark black pigment. You can see it in the clearer nails, reduced black in the beard, and generally brighter, cleaner overall coloration compared to a normal wild-type dragon.
