This morph combines the classic Honduran banding with a clean, amelanistic snow coloration, resulting in a striking animal that’s both a display piece and a reliable captive. Your Questions Answered
Is this snake a good choice for a first-time owner?
We recommend it for keepers with some prior reptile experience. While Honduran Milk Snakes are hardy, babies can be initially nervous and require specific husbandry regarding temperature gradients and humidity. Their feeding response is also typically very strong, which new handlers should be prepared for.
How does the snow coloration develop as it ages?
The high-contrast white and red/orange banding will remain, but the colors often intensify and become more saturated with each shed. The white stays clean, and the red/orange saddles typically deepen, enhancing the contrast over time.
What enclosure setup do you recommend?
Start with a 10-20 gallon front-opening terrarium with a secure lid. Provide a thermal gradient: a warm side of 85-88°F and a cool side of 75-78°F. Include multiple snug hides, a water bowl for soaking, and humidity maintained around 50-60%, spiking during shed cycles.
