Your Questions Answered
What does “Hypo Translucent” mean for her appearance?
The “Hypo” (Hypomelanistic) gene reduces black pigment, resulting in cleaner, brighter colors. The “Translucent” trait gives her eyes a solid black or dark blue appearance and can create a slight “see-through” effect on her skin, especially as a hatchling. Combined with the Red Stripe pattern, it produces a dragon with vibrant reds and clean, reduced markings.
Is she breeding size and age?
As a young adult female, she is approaching breeding size and maturity. We recommend allowing a period of acclimation to her new environment and ensuring she is at optimal weight and health, typically over 350 grams, before considering introduction to a male for breeding purposes.
What is her current care setup?
She is currently housed in a 4x2x2 foot PVC enclosure with a T5 HO UVB light, a basking spot maintained at 105-110°F, and a cool side around 80°F. She has a varied diet of fresh collard greens daily and is offered dubia roaches or black soldier fly larvae 4-5 times per week.
