Your Questions Answered

What setup does a baby Red Foot need?

A hatchling requires a secure enclosure (like a 40-gallon breeder tank to start), a heat gradient with a basking spot, UVB lighting critical for shell development, high humidity maintained via substrate and misting, and hiding spots. They are not a “beginner” pet and need proper equipment from day one.

How do you ship a live tortoise?

We ship via overnight air courier with a live arrival guarantee. The tortoise is secured in a breathable, insulated container with appropriate packing material for safety and temperature stability. Shipments are scheduled for Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend delays. Please note: while the animal itself is perfect, we find the manufacturer’s shipping box can be flimsy, so we reinforce all shipments.

What is its lifespan and temperament?

With proper care, Red Foot Tortoises can live 50+ years, a serious commitment. Their temperament is generally docile and curious. They often become quite personable, especially when hand-fed, but they are a pet to be observed and interacted with gently, not constantly handled.
