Description
The Leopard Spider Ball Python is a distinct morph combining the Leopard and Spider genes, creating a high-contrast pattern with reduced black pigment and the characteristic Spider head stamp. It’s for intermediate to advanced keepers looking for a visually striking animal with proven genetics. Since we started stocking it in summer 2025, it has become a steady seller in our collection.
Stand-Out Features
- High-Contrast Pattern: The Leopard gene lightens the background color and reduces black pigment, allowing the Spider pattern to stand out sharply.
- Proven Genetics: This is an established co-dominant morph, reliably passing its traits to offspring in breeding projects.
- Distinct Head Stamp: Displays the classic, reduced ‘head stamp’ pattern associated with the Spider gene complex.
- Active & Inquisitive: Known for being more active and alert during handling sessions compared to typical Ball Python morphs.
- Feeds Reliably: In our care, this morph has shown a consistent and strong feeding response on appropriately sized frozen/thawed rodents.

Your Questions Answered
Does this snake have any health concerns related to the Spider gene?
The Spider gene is associated with a neurological condition known as the “wobble,” which can range from imperceptible to a noticeable head tremor or corkscrewing, especially when the animal is excited or feeding. It does not typically impact feeding, longevity, or overall quality of life. We screen all our animals, and this individual exhibits minimal to no visible signs.
What setup do you recommend for a juvenile like this?
A 10-20 gallon enclosure with secure locking lids is ideal. Provide a humid hide, a water dish large enough for soaking, and appropriate under-tank or overhead heating to create a thermal gradient (88-92°F warm side, 78-80°F cool side). Use digital thermometers/hygrometers for accuracy.
When can I expect this snake to reach breeding size?
With consistent, appropriate feeding, females typically reach breeding size (around 1500 grams) in 2-3 years. Males can be breedable sooner, often by 18-24 months at 700-800 grams. Growth rates vary based on feeding schedule, prey size, and individual metabolism.
