Your Questions Answered
How does the Witblits gene affect this dragon’s appearance?
The Witblits gene is a pattern mutation that significantly reduces or eliminates the standard bearded dragon patterning and tiger striping. In this triple-morph, it allows the clean, bright background colors from the Hypo gene and the unique skin/scale quality from the Translucent and Dunner genes to be the dominant visual features, resulting in a very smooth and often solid-colored animal.
Will the translucent trait fade as it ages?
The translucent trait, which gives a slightly see-through quality to the spikes, belly, and sometimes the limbs in babies, does not fade. However, as the dragon grows and scales thicken, the effect may become less pronounced but will remain a defining characteristic, especially in the spikes and nail beds.
What is the care requirement for a baby of this morph?
Care is identical to that of any high-quality bearded dragon. Provide a 40-gallon breeder tank minimum for a baby, with a basking spot of 105-110°F, a UVB tube light spanning 2/3 of the enclosure, and a varied diet of appropriately sized insects and fresh greens. No special accommodations are needed for its specific genetics.
