Description
The Calico Spotnose Ball Python combines two distinct pattern-altering genes into a single, visually striking morph. This is for the intermediate to advanced keeper looking to add complex patterning and reliable genetics to their collection. Since we began stocking this morph in late 2024, it has consistently drawn repeat customers back for its unique appearance. The finish quality on our current batch is excellent, with no visible tooling marks on the scales.
Stand-Out Features
- Dual-Gene Expression: The Calico gene adds scattered, bright pattern disruption, while the Spotnose gene reduces and elongates the headstamp and dorsal patterns, creating a clean, high-contrast look.
- Predictable Genetics: As a co-dominant x recessive cross, breeding projects with this animal offer clear, calculable outcomes for producing other combos.
- Established Feeding Response: This line has shown a strong and consistent feeding response on frozen/thawed rodents, making it a reliable animal for your collection.
- Visual Progression: Hatchlings display the key traits, but the contrast and color saturation often intensify with age, rewarding long-term keepers.
- Collection Foundation: An ideal candidate for projects aiming at complex combos like Super Spotnose, Pewter, or Sugar Calico.

Your Questions Answered
How does the Spotnose gene affect the Calico pattern?
The Spotnose gene typically ‘cleans up’ the pattern. It reduces and elongates the headstamp and dorsal blushing. When combined with Calico, this creates larger, more defined areas of clear pattern disruption against a darker background, enhancing the visual contrast compared to a standard Calico.
What is the temperament like for this morph?
Temperament is individual, not strictly gene-linked. In our experience with this batch, these animals exhibit typical Ball Python behavior: they are generally docile, may ball up when nervous, and handle well after a short acclimation period. Their feeding response, however, has been notably strong and consistent.
What are the primary breeding goals with this snake?
This animal is a powerful breeder for introducing both pattern disruption and color brightness. Key projects include breeding to a normal to produce 50% possible het Spotnose & 50% Calicos, or to another Spotnose to produce Calico Spotnoses and Super Spotnoses. It’s a cornerstone for complex projects involving genes like Pastel, Cinnamon, or Mojave.
