Your Questions Answered

What size enclosure does this tarantula need?

An adult requires a secure, terrestrial enclosure with a minimum floor space of 10 gallons (approx. 20″ x 10″). Provide a deep substrate (5+ inches) for burrowing, a sturdy hide, and a shallow water dish. Ventilation is critical.

What do you feed the Bolivian Blue-leg Birdeater?

This is an eager feeder. Offer appropriately sized live prey: crickets, dubia roaches, or mealworms. Adults can take an occasional pinky mouse. Remove uneaten prey. Feed juveniles 2-3 times a week, adults once a week. Always provide fresh water.

Is this species suitable for handling?

Not recommended. Pamphobeteus species are fast, skittish, and possess potent urticating hairs they will readily kick if stressed. They are best considered a display animal. Any enclosure maintenance should be done with long tools and extreme care.
