Your Questions Answered
How do I care for a scaleless snake?
Care is similar to a standard corn snake, with extra attention to humidity and substrate. Provide a humid hide and avoid abrasive cage decor. Aspen or cypress mulch are suitable substrates. They thermoregulate normally but appreciate slightly smoother surfaces for resting.
Is the albino trait linked to vision issues?
No. Unlike some other species, the amelanistic (albino) gene in corn snakes does not cause reduced eyesight or light sensitivity. Their vision is typical for the species, and they feed readily using scent and movement cues.
Can this snake be bred?
Yes. This is a breeding-quality animal carrying two recessive genes. To produce more albino scaleless offspring, it must be paired with another snake carrying at least one copy of both the amelanistic and scaleless genes. We recommend pairing with a visual albino het scaleless or another visual albino scaleless for predictable results.
